Abstract

This chapter discusses the electron acceptor availability of wetland soils and the effect of electron acceptors on C and N dynamics. Aerobic, facultative anaerobic and anaerobic respiration pathways; and ammonification, ammonia volatilization, nitrification, denitrification and N fixation are described.
