Full face ablative CO 2 laser treatments remain the gold standard in ablative laser resurfacing. Ultrapulse laser full face resurfacing has been largely superseded with new modalities and combination treatments with less invasive technologies. However, for a segment of patients with significantly damaged skin or substantial acne scars, this laser technology can be very beneficial, especially in those who otherwise achieve improvement only after multiple fractionated laser treatments at ultimately a higher financial cost. The risks of the procedure and ability of the patient to understand and comply with the protocol must be evaluated in determining which patient is a candidate.
