Abstract

This paper proposes pattern synthesis for wide null placement using Ant Lion Optimization. The synthesis is modeled as a current amplitude-only optimization. In addition, the Dynamic Range Ratio (DRR) constraint-based optimization is proposed so as to minimize the complexity of array feed network and to reduce the inter-element coupling in the antenna array. For the synthesis of pattern with wide nulls and reduced Side Lobe Level (SLL), the proposed method offers 3 dB improvement in peak SLL minimization and 4 dB improvement in wide null depth. For DRR constraint-based array pattern synthesis, the proposed method yields superior performance in suppressing the SLL while reducing the DRR from 21.44 to 15.42.
