Abstract

This paper uses a coronary arterial tree model generated by the optimization algorithm for blood volume in a two-dimensional circular region. Using the geometric data from the computed arterial tree, we analyzed the flow and pressure at each segment. The node equation algorithm to determine the flow and pressure was developed to analyze the hemodynamics in a vascular network. This simplified method was applied to a complicated vascular network. Then, we simulated what would happen to the flow and pressure in the surrounding segments if a specific segment was blocked. Computational results showed that the blood in the vessels after the blocked artery was stagnated and low pressure region was formed, inducing ischemic tissues.
