Abstract

The main problem to be solved by desert animals is thermohygric regulation. Extreme temperatures and very wide thermal fluctuations, as well as scanty and unforeseeable rainfall, impose special adaptive responses on all the animals inhabiting arid environments. The solutions of this problem may vary considerably and consist in morphological, physiological and behavioural adaptations, which co-operate to allow faunal survival
