Abstract

Based on a bio-assay guided fractionation, a new sterol has been isolated as an equilibrium of isomers 1 with interesting cancer cell antiproliferative properties from a yet undescribed species of the genus Ctenocella sp. The structure of this sterol has been inferred from the acetyl derivative 2, on the basis of spectral study. (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
