Abstract
The Greek volcanoes are part of the Aegean Volcanic Arc, which is caused by the subduction of the African tectonic plate under the Eurasian plate. Santorini is the most famous volcano in Greece, and was the site of the most recent volcanic eruption in Greece in 1950; the others are Methana, Mílos, Nisyros, Yali and Kos (Table5.1).
