Abstract

The factors affecting the mechanical and physical properties of these materials were identified and deliberated. It was found that Acacia wood has the prospective to be efficiently produced and used in Borneo. Acacia wood has been found to be having variety of applications, among which include fire breakers, furniture production, fiber cement, doors, automobile parts, timber resource and as reinforced materials in other composites. Of significance recently is creating awareness and legislations towards producing completely biodegradable products, sustainable, environmentally friendly, durable and high strength to weight ratio. These properties are found in composites made of acacia wood, hence their potentials in wide varieties of applications, which this chapter seek to highlight.
