Abstract

This work describes some methods for the reliability analysis, such as the instantaneous failure rate, the average failure rate, statistical tools and other techniques that are used to improve the lifetime of equipment and components. The high voltage breakers installed in a substation are analyzed according to these considerations to determine their reliability and to identify the elements with high probability of failure and the fault behavior, based on Weibull distribution, that enable the possibility to predict future faults is also analyzed.
