Abstract

The IPCC has proposed that the world as a whole reduce is greenhouse gas emissions by 40% to 3200 million tons over the next 20 years (2035). This report quantifies what that would mean for the USA. Not only can we do it but we can generate 2.7 million new jobs at the same time. The investment comes out to about $ 200 B per year. The public investment might average about $55 B per year. A carbon tax would generate about $200 B per year. This is about 40% less than the oil and gas industry is spending per year.
