Abstract

When, in the 1960s, Brazilian universities adopted the campus model, there was a need to create technical offices responsible for its construction. In this article, we intend to show the performance of these technical teams in campus design and construction. It is a very complex task, involving many professionals of varied backgrounds, technical and academic, with several decision and authorization instances. We choose as an example the technical office of the Federal University of São Carlos, UFSCar, called the Physical Development Office, EDF. As sources, in addition to knowledge gained in more than a decade of research in this subject, we used a general and another more specific bibliography, aimed at the study of these offices.
