Abstract

Cities have become a crucial part of the tourism industry and a growing number of tourists want to understand the rhythm, the heartbeat of a city and its inhabitants. At the same time, cities are embracing the challenge of becoming Smart Cities, changing the experience they offer to visitors and citizens. Modern urban development is paving a path for creativity, innovation and the creation of fascinating narratives on modernity. The Online Magazine CrowdCity was launched to create a new space for reading and writing about “smart” urban development. This case study describes the crowdsourcing approach, ongoing improvements and future challenges to establish CrowdCity as a platform for sharing knowledge.
