Abstract

Cooperative transmission is an effective technique to improve transmission performance. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-point cooperative fountain codes multicast (CF-Multicast) transmission strategy. In the proposed strategy, any user can be selected to act as a relay for its neighbors in a multicast group. Then we introduce two schemes, R-CUT and O-CUT, for selecting cooperative user terminals (CUTs) to decrease the number of cooperative users in order to consider both decoding efficiency and energy consumption, and compare their performance. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes of R-CUT and O-CUT are able to provide tradeoff between transmission efficiency and system energy consumption, and O-CUT scheme has better transmission performance compared with R-CUT scheme. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
