Abstract

The scavenging of reactive oxygen under stressed environments is one of the suggested roles of anthocyanins in leaves of plants. The present work was designed to evaluate the alteration of anthocyanin concentration in leaves of daisy under high NaCl concentration. Because, high NaCl concentration is a common stress factor in natural and agricultural system, which has detrimental effect on crop productivity, it is critical to recognize the mechanism of protection in plants against NaCl stress. The data of this survey suggest that the increase of the anthocyanin content in some levels of high NaCl salinities is a kind of defense response to this abiotic environmental stress.
