Abstract

Regeneration of tissue is a fundamental parameter of liver response to injury and is essential for postoperative recovery from hepatic resection. An adequate microvascular supply of remnant tissue and new forming cell clusters is necessary for the precise reconstitution of the organ. In the present study we analyzed for the first time the hepatic architecture and microcirculation of the regenerated liver at 3, 5, and 8 days after partial hepatectomy (68 %) in mice using intravital fluorescence microscopy. The assessed data may contribute to a better understanding of the complex vascular and cellular mechanisms during liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy.
