Abstract

As technology and business are turbulently changing, Agile software project management is taking over traditional project management due to its flexibility, short time-to-market, and customer involvement. This paper digs the background reason for agile software project management and focuses on the development of software project planning using Agile. The Agile software project planning is overviewed; the traditional project planning is compared with the Agile project planning; and the detailed concerns with the agile project planning are outlined. The differences between traditional project planning and Agile project planning are analyzed; adaptability to the increasing turbulent and unpredictable market changes is discussed, including release planning, timebox planning and day planning; and risk planning and management in Agile software projects are presented, including risks from tasks and risks from people. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.
