Abstract

The immunesurveillance process remains one of the most controversial and poorly understood areas of immunity. Cancer and organ transplantation are two clinical situations where the suppression of the immune response has been and is still widely investigated. While the anti-tumor-specific immune function must be enhanced to prevent tumor progression, the situation is the complete opposite in organ transplantation, where the immune response against the grafted organ should be suppressed to ensure transplantation success.
