Abstract

This research aims to analyze possibilities of relationship between strategic approach and intersectorial partnerships theories and how they can be applied in the urban sustainability context. The researched themes are synthetized in form of general principles, aiming to create a framework which provides key-approaches that can support urban leaders to act as connectors between public, private and civil society sectors towards urban sustainability. A review of the literature on urban sustainability, intersectoral partnerships, leadership and strategic approach is carried out. It was possible to identify that intersectoral partnerships strategically organized, may significantly contribute to the success of cities in the insertion of urban sustainability in their development practices. It is possible to infer that the proposed model can be applied to cities in Brazil and also in the international community for the promotion of sustainable urban development.
