Abstract

Nicholas Mazza, the founding and continuing editor of the Journal of Poetry Therapy (JPT) reflects on the development of the Journal as a major contributor to the scholarly base of poetry therapy. Noting the Journal’s international and interdisciplinary contributions as well as it being indexed and abstracted in major databases, the editor affirms the importance of professional/academic dialogue. In building on the past and looking to the future of JPT, the readership is reminded of the importance of mixed methods of research, practice reports, theory development, creativity, and the convergence of literary and human service perspectives.
