Abstract

We have recently introduced a new Freshman engineering course, Creativity and Design in Electrical & Computer engineering. The new course is designed to both fulfill the Creativity & Arts (C&A) requirement of the University's revised General Education curriculum, as well as to improve student retention from the Freshman year to the Sophomore year. This paper will review the challenges encountered in designing an engineering course to satisfy the C&A requirements, the content of the course, sample student artifacts, and suggested modifications for future versions of the course. © 2012 American Society for Engineering Education.
