Abstract

This is a manual showing how to do a health facility survey to assess the quality of care provided. It provides the steps in doing the survey, including the instruments as well as the tools for analysis. The framework for assessment is the IMCI protocol for management of sick children. 4 methods are used - observation of quality provided by a health worker (at FLHS); exit interview of patient to understand their perception of care given; re-examination to assess the technical efficacy of the health worker and finally a health facility survey to assess the technical quality of care provided.
