Towards Semantic Support for Business Process Integration

Abstract

In this chapter we attempt to cover the major contributions in the semantic approach to business process integration. We ought to present our perspectives and vision about how to carry out semantic support for business process integration and a set of recommendations based on the major contributions of frameworks, methodologies, procedures and tools, considering open issues as well as challenges in this field; providing some insight into the semantic shifting of Business Process Management (BPM), the current work and future research trends on the topic. There is also presented a proposal for a framework design that combines the semantic supported modeling with the orchestration of integration processes in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) context. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
