Abstract

“Vulnerability” is a relatively new concept in contemporary global bioethics. In authoritative bioethical documents it first surfaced in the Belmont Report in 1979, as a special consideration in the application of the general principles of respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. This consideration is especially relevant in the context of rsearch with human beings.
