PENERAPAN KONSEP BATIK SEBAGAI REKREASI DI PALMERAH

Abstract

Batik Recreation Place in Palmerah is a project located in Palmerah District, West Jakarta. This project is motivated by the Palmerah neighborhood which is filled with offices, commercial shops, traditional markets, and housing. The density of Palmerah makes this area also filled with a variety of activities that make saturation for workers and residents of Palmerah. Along with the development of offices and the increasing economy of Palmerah, the population has increasingly left the existing Batik tradition where Palmerah was once one of the major batik-producing areas in Jakarta. Therefore, the Palmerah Batik Recreation exists as a place to unwind the workers and residents of Palmerah. To reach this goal, interviews and surveys were conducted to find out the activities carried out by workers and residents to fill their free time. These activities become a reference for analyzing the programs needed by workers and residents of Palmerah. As a third place, the project is a place that accommodates the activities of workers and residents of Palmerah. Through recreation, this place wants to revive the existing Batik traditions so that Batik can be better known by residents of Palmerah and the wider community.Keywords: Batik; Palmerah; Recreation Place AbstrakRekreasi Batik Palmerah merupakan suatu proyek yang berada di Kelurahan Palmerah, Jakarta Barat. Proyek ini dilatarbelakangi oleh lingkungan Palmerah yang dipadati dengan perkantoran, toko-toko komersial, pasar-pasar tradisional, dan perumahan penduduk. Padatnya Palmerah membuat daerah ini juga dipadati dengan beragam aktivitas yang membuat kejenuhan bagi pekerja dan penduduk Palmerah. Seiring perkembangan perkantoran dan meningkatnya ekonomi Palmerah, penduduk pun semakin meninggalkan tradisi Batik yang ada dimana dulunya Palmerah merupakan salah satu daerah penghasil Batik besar di Jakarta. Oleh karena itu, Rekreasi Batik Palmerah pun hadir sebagai tempat untuk melepas penat pekerja dan penduduk Palmerah. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, dilakukan wawancara dan survei untuk mengetahui kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh pekerja dan penduduk untuk mengisi waktu luang mereka. Kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut menjadi acuan untuk menganalisis progam yang di dibutuhkan oleh pekerja dan penduduk Palmerah. Sebagai tempat ketiga, proyek menjadi tempat yang menampung kegiatan dari pekerja dan penduduk Palmerah. Melalui sarana rekreasi, tempat ini ingin menghidupkan kembali tradisi Batik yang ada supaya Batik dapat lebih dikenal oleh penduduk Palmerah dan masyarakat luas.
