Abstract

In this paper, a novel non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) interpolator is proposed and implemented. This interpolator considers chord errors, feedrate fluctuations and acceleration/deceleration capabilities of the machine. And by introducing the improved S curve Acc/Dec feedrate control algorithm, recursive look-ahead algorithm and dual-port queue, it ensures a high machining accuracy and real-time performance. The advantages of the algorithm were confirmed by the simulation and analyses. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
