Abstract

The paper aims to address the issue of rehabilitation and enhancement of the village of Balestrino, Savona hinterland. The research methodology adopted for the rehabilitation of the village is based on historical typological and structural engineering of the examined artifacts. At first we made the archiving and cataloguing of the collected data concerning the materials and construction techniques from analysis in the place of the building. Later it was possible to create summaries drawn up on the basis of architectural cases of major historical significance. Third, after analyzing the instability and the deterioration that the artefacts have undergone over time, we considered rehabilitation project hypothesis of the buildings with the integration of advanced technology solutions for energy saving. The restoration plan should be designed to retrain and enhance the entire area of the town, by facilitating reintegration of the inhabitants and the preservation of the local cultural values.
