Abstract

This chapter describes and summarizes design considerations required to develop an accurate and repeatable wind tunnel-based testing program to measure and optimize the aerodynamic drag of athletes, their apparel, and competition equipment. The chapter focuses on drag measurement techniques for the sport of road cycling with the intent that similar techniques may be applied to reduce the drag of athletes in many other sports.
