Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of time of fruit ripening on the characters number of fruits per plot, fruit weight and yield of the Dedo-de-moça pepper (Capsicum baccatum L.) variety. The experiment was conducted in the city of Teresina, Piauí, in a randomized block design with four replications and the treatments for the effect of time of maturation, in four months (May, June, July and August). The climatic factors, mainly temperature and rainfall affect fruit yield in pepper Capsicum, with high temperatures and low rainfall are detrimental to the yield development of productive variety of pepper Dedo-de-moça. Under the conditions studied, the first half of the year is the best time to produce peppers in Piauí, especially for the months of May, June and July, in which the temperature, relative humidity and rainfall are high, appropriate for the growth and development of fruit.
