Abstract

The Magellanic Cloudshave been covered with the X-ray astronomy satellite ROSAT duringthe all sky survey and during pointed observatons. A few hundredsources have been detected in the fields. Super-soft sources aredetected as a new class of X-ray emitters, that may solve the missingmillisecond puslsar progenitor problem. Transient super-soft as well ashard X-ray binary sources are discovered or rediscovered in bothclouds. Extended sources are candidates for new supernova remnants andsome of them already have been identified with supernova remnants,Large scale diffuse emission is clearly found in the Large MagellanicCloud (LMC) and extends beyond the supershell optical boundaries.
