Image Post-processing Protocols

Abstract

This chapter describes image post-processing protocols. Image post-processing is designed to provide the radiologist with all necessary supplemental data for image interpretation beyond primary acquired images. These additional data should include subtracted images, maximum intensity projections (MIPs) of subtracted data, and time-enhancement curves for suspicious lesions. Image post-processing may also include image reconstruction in orthogonal planes, enhancement maps, and image overlays that provide additional dynamic information or mark suspicious lesions in the breast.
