Abstract

Over the past years, Triple-play service through (Digital Subscribers Line (DSL) has gained attention. From a Central-Office base, DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) has evolved into a remote-base that supports triple-play and its development has introduced new problems and challenges. This paper will discuss the problems encountered by ISPs as well as proposing a novel approach in solving these problems and challenges and providing a platform that can support multiple access technologies. A simulation using DSL access technology to analyse the performance of the proposed platform and a prototype has been built as a proof-of-concept.
