Abstract

Intensive exploitation of sulphur in Poland during the past 25 years hascaused many changes in natural ecosystems. Different data were appliedfor analysis of these changes: multi-temporal aerial photos, Landsat 5TM images, topographic, geological, hydrogeological maps etc. The aim ofthe project was to develop an efficient and cost-effective methodologyfor detection of geoenvironmental change, using remote sensing data andGIS, and to perform comprehensive analysis of land use, pollution ofunderground and surface waters, geological conditions, and terrainsubsidence above the exploited mining sites.
