Abstract

The question of whether new peroxisomes form autonomously has been a subject of debate for more than 30 years. In this issue of Cell, Hoepfner et al. (2005) present the most compelling evidence to date in support of a role for the endoplasmic reticulum in the creation of peroxisomes. Copyright ©2005 by Elsevier Inc.
