Abstract

The security threats of Wireless Sensor Networks include external and internal attacks. Although classical security mechanisms such as authentication and encryption can only prevent some external attacks, it's not effective for internal attacks. As a significant measure, reputation evaluation mechanism has an obvious effect on internal attacks. Due to the defects of existing reputation evaluation model, this paper proposed a novel reputation evaluation model for WSN nodes based on vertical and horizontal analysis (VH-BRSN). The BRSN model is a prototype of this novel model, and vertical and horizontal analysis is used to have all-sides evaluation to WSN nodes in the model to prevent internal attacks. The simulation results show that the proposed model has a better performance. © 2010 IEEE.
