How understanding the control of energy metabolism can help investigation of mitochondrial dysfunction, regulation and pharmacology

Abstract

Understanding the control of mitochondrial energy metabolism is central to knowing how mitochondria function within cells. Metabolic control analysis is the best approach available for studying the control of mitochondrial energy metabolism. Here I outline how metabolic control analysis has been used to help understand mitochondrial regulation, damage and pharmacology. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
