Abstract

A simple, convenient, one-pot synthetic approach towards substituted benzene derivatives using base-catalyzed condensation of β-bromovinylaldehydes with β-ketoesters followed by water-mediated cyclization and aromatization has been developed. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
