The coverage dependence of the local adsorption structure of potassium on Ni(100) is investigated by means of diffuse LEED in the poorly ordered low coverage regime θ ≤ 1 4. We apply a diffuse intensity analysis whereby diffuse intensities are measured as functions of energy for constant values of the surface parallel momentum transfer. The resulting DI(E) spectra are analyzed using conventional LEED computer programs. The adsorption height of potassium seems to decrease slightly by about 0.07 Å when the coverage increases from θ = 0.08 to 0.25, though this behavior is still within the limits of error. © 1993.
