Abstract

This paper discusses the evaluation of interlaminar stresses, in the presence of in-plane stress gradients, for composite laminates by using three-dimensional equilibrium equations. The stress gradients are calculated by means of an improved finite difference scheme. A quasi-isotropic laminated plate with a circular hole subjected to a uniform tension stress is considered. The effects of stacking sequence and the thickness of the laminate on the interlaminar stresses have been studied. © 1994.
