The parameters of the electric field gradient (EFG) tensor at the copper site of the Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 lattice were determined by means of the 67Cu (67Zn) emission Mössbauer spectroscopy. The data obtained suggest that the substitution of Ce4+ for Nd3+ ions involves the formation of charge compensating electrons distributed among the copper sites. © 1993.
