Abstract

The starting point for developing effective safety training is by conducting a thorough "needs analysis," which identifies the gaps that exist in the regulatory requirements and organizational procedures with actual on-the-job performance. Using the information gathered in the "needs analysis," using an effective learning design, evaluating the learning that takes place, examining the role of organizational influence and the motivation of the learner are all factors for increasing the effectiveness of safety training.
