Abstract

The WEP-TR wet electrostatic precipitator developed by Hosokawa Micron's MikroPul division is described. The machine was developed to remove fine sticky liquid or solid particles from process gas streams. The advantages of the WEP-TR are that dust formation on the electrodes is avoided, the electric field inside the collector tubes remains charged with no breakdown during flushing, and that the low-pressure irrigating liquid film can be grounded to act as the collection electrode. The WEP-TR design is described.
