Abstract

In the regions between crystallites of the magnetically hard phase in Fe-Nd-B permanent magnets transmission electron microscopy shows phases with particles in the nanometer size range. They are explained as a mixture of α-iron and an essentially amorphous neodymium-rich boron oxide matrix. The fine particles are attributed to the decomposition of a glassy phase. © 1985.
