Abstract

A neural network algorithm for core location analysis at large extended air shower arrays is described. The algorithm combines high efficiency for the identification of the shower core with good rejection capability for showers that fall outside the array. In addition it offers an easy possibility to identify events with subcores. The algorithm is fast and can also be used in an on-line preanalysis procedure. © 1992.
