Abstract

It is shown that there are no invariants of motion for the equation ∂Ω/∂t + J(ψ, Ω) + β∂ψ/∂x = 0 except those well-known (energy, enstrophy, meridional impulse component and "Casimirs"). The nonexistence of an additional conservation law entails the nontintegrability of this equation. © 1989.
