Abstract

In the magenta flowers of Verbena cv 'Sangria' a novel acylated anthocyanin was found and determined to be pelargonidin 3-O-(6-O-(acetyl)-β-d-glucopyranoside) by chromatographic and spectral methods. Two known acylated anthocyanins were also isolated from this plant as major pigments, and identified as cyanidin and pelargonidin 3-(6-malonylglucoside). © 1991.
