Abstract

The investigation is devoted to optimal placement of discrete sources of stationary physical field. The state of investigated system is described by the boundary value problem. The main result is the differentiability of boundary value problem solution with respect to placement parameters. The geometrical constraints on source placement is formalized by means of penalization technique. The solution method is constructed on the base of gradient method. Numerical solution of test example are given. © 2003 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
