Radial nerve palsy caused by injections

Abstract

Fifty-six cases of radial palsy due to injections have been seen during the last 13 years. Thirteen patients recovered spontaneously. Seven patients were treated by neurolysis, of which five had full recovery in 1 year. The remaining patients were treated by modified Robert Jones transfers. In ten cases flexor carpi ulnaris was spared as a strong flexor of the wrist, which improved the results in heavy manual workers. Radial nerve palsy caused by injection is an avoidable injury.
