Abstract

Ruthenium catalyzed oxidation of cyanohydrins with tert-butyl hydroperoxide gives the corresponding acyl cyanides in good to excellent yields. Acyl cyanides thus obtained are useful reagents for selective N-benzoylation of aminoalcohols. © 1985.
