The simulation of CONSERT instrument which is on-board the International Rosetta mission is described here. The final technical solutions adopted for the instrument are studied for the first time with LabVIEW (© N. I. Corp.) which allows the global simulation of systems containing both analog and digital components. The signal is sampled at 1 GHz, which is sufficient to simulate the analog signal with the filters, amplifiers and modulators used. These modelings are essential in order to reach the complete description of the built system and they are very helpful to understand the test results during the instrument development. The study of non-linearity in the system which can affect the instrument performances is discussed. © 2002 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
