Using electron and X-ray diffraction techniques, the structure of anodic zirconium oxide grown in alkaline phosphate and sulphate solutions was examined. The oxide was found to be cubic for thicknesses up to 1000 Å and a mixture of cubic and monoclinic for larger thicknesses. © 1985.
